Places I Would Let My Bestie Birth
We have tons of birthing options in Fort Worth and the greater DFW metro.
*FULL DISCLOSURE - I have not yet attended births at every birth center in the metro. Some of them may be lovely. I can only speak to my personal experiences.
Hospital Birth - Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Downtown Fort Worth. If you want to have a natural birth in a hospital setting, this is the place for you. By natural birth, I mean vaginal birth. You can have a beautiful and supported unmedicated birth here, but there’s also a wide-range of medical pain relief options available - from nitrous to I.V. pain meds to epidurals. There’s also a tub room if you’re birthing with a midwife in the hospital. Another thing that makes Harris Downtown a great place to birth is the sky bridge to Cook Children’s. You can direct admit to that NICU if that’s your choice.
Birth Center Birth - Fort Worth Birthing & Wellness in Downtown Fort Worth. The birth center is just a few minutes drive to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Downtown Fort Worth in case a transfer is needed. FWBC has tubs, big showers, fridges, stairs to climb in labor. All the comforts of home without being at your home. They also have Nitrous and IV pain management, just in case.
VBA2C or Special Cases - BUMC - Baylor University Medical Center in Downtown Dallas. If you’re planning a VBA2C or have a special scenario, just skip right ahead and see Dr. Payne at BUMC. If you’re in Fort Worth, it is a bit of a drive, but it is worth it! The new rooms are giant with tubs and nice showers.
